How staying sober makes you a better person
There is no doubt of the fact
that quitting drugs and alcohol
makes you a more wholesome
person, but then, it is good to
highlight the specific ways so as
to put it in perspective.
So, in what specific ways does
staying sober improve the
quality of your life and make you
better person?
[1.] You have a better handle on your memory If you’re used to drinking heavily, then, the blackouts will be inevitable. For those who used drugs, the hazy days were also part of life but now that you are sober, your mind is clearer and you can function better because your memory has improved.
[2.] You are healthier Heavy alcohol consumption makes you add weight and can destroy your liver. Hard drugs do the same and make you more susceptible to some forms of cancer. However, with these out of the way, you stand the chance of living a much healthier life.
[3.] You look better People ravaged by addiction never look their best, no matter how dolled up they may be. The drugs and alcohol just have a way of poisoning your system
and making you look older than
you really are or destroying your
complexion.
[4.] You are more energetic Addiction saps the energy out of you but now that you are sober, you have the strength to do other things and be more productive.
[5.] Your self-confidence improves Addition deprives you of your self-worth because you know
you are not the best version of
yourself. The guilt and shame
leave your self-esteem battered
but that can all be in the past
when you are sober.
In another post, I will discuss
other benefits of sobriety,
especially as it has to do with
your social life. I hope you are
motivated to stay sober!
